Extended Reality in Healthcare

Extended Reality (XR) is a practical, powerful set of technologies combining virtual, augmented and mixed reality - already being used to tackle real problems in healthcare. We are driving work that helps the sector understand, test and build XR solutions that matter.

Small Grants Programme - Developing XR Solutions for Community Healthcare

Through our XR small grants programme, innovators are funded and mentored to develop XR tools that reflect real needs in community health services.

Recipients get access to expert guidance, clinical contacts and technical support to refine ideas and build something that can work in practice.

XR Reality Health Market Assessment & Deep Dive Report

We have commissioned this UK-wide landscape mapping study, exploring the role of XR in healthcare. This study examines the breadth of XR adoption across the NHS, universities and industry, and benchmarks the UK’s competitive standing globally.

Created by the XR Health Alliance, in partnership with NIHR MindTech, the report utilises AI and an interactive map to support exploration of the findings.

Prototyping XR Solutions in Mental Health

This initiative brings together XR experts and NHS clinicians to better understand the XR landscape in mental health and to co-design potential prototype solutions.

The work spans landscape mapping, ecosystem analysis and identifying priority prototype areas that may benefit people both receiving and delivering mental health services.
