The CHI-Zone is anchored by the University of Liverpool’s Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL). It is funded by the Liverpool City Region Life Sciences Innovation Zone, part of the Government’s national Investment Zone Programme.

CHIL
The University of Liverpool’s Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL) is an interdisciplinary research centre tackling global health challenges with civic data and technology while driving innovations in health and social care for the people of the Liverpool City Region.
CHIL brings together leading experts from academia, the NHS, local government, charities and industry to develop a new model for progressive data uses and responsible artificial intelligence in civil society, fuelling innovations for health, social and economic advancement.
Building on the University’s strengths in digital engineering, health and life sciences, and impactful civic data partnerships, CHIL addresses a critical need to embed data, AI and related technology innovation as core business of an academic health system.
The centre fosters an environment where data, expertise, technology and community engagement come together to help tackle some of the most pressing health, social and economic challenges of our time.
The CHI-Zone is one of CHIL’s core programmes and will be working across the research and development portfolio to drive innovation.
