About
HealthTech Design Studio is the Liverpool City Region’s design capability for health – working with communities, clinicians, and system partners to turn real health challenges into validated, investable health products and services.
Launching in phases, the programme will combine grant funding, entrepreneurship support, collaborative workshops and community-led challenge development to create a stronger pipeline of healthtech innovation.

How the HealthTech Design Studio Works
Building on the previous work of the Civic Data Cooperative, the HealthTech Design Studio will also help identify and validate priority health and care challenges through:

This approach will ensure innovation activity is shaped by real community, clinical and system needs.
A Phased Launch
The HealthTech Design Studio will continue to launch in phases, with new programmes and support offers introduced over time. Further details on funding opportunities, workshops and participation will be announced soon.
Get involved
One-day Claude Training Workshops
We’re offering a series of hands-on one-day Claude training workshops designed for innovators, researchers, clinicians, SMEs, developers and professionals who want to learn how to use AI to accelerate their work. Guided by AI and software engineering experts from LeadingLogic.AI, you'll learn how to use Claude effectively, develop practical prompting and problem-solving skills, and create a working prototype, workflow or solution based on a challenge that matters to you.
Participants will leave with new AI skills, a tangible project output, and the confidence to continue using Claude in their day-to-day work. No advanced technical experience is required, although attendees should bring a laptop and a real-world idea or challenge they would like to explore.
Please note: Participants must have access to a Claude Pro, Max or Team licence for the duration of the workshop, as the training involves hands-on use of Claude throughout the day.

Student Entrepreneur Health Tech Grants
Prize fund for students at University of Liverpool to develop their own health tech project with real-world applicability. The funding (expected to be in the region of £500 to £5,000) will allow students to generate impact through innovation and commercialisation, to engage with industry, and to access further training and support from the HTDS team.
