Student Entrepreneur Health Tech Small Grants Programme

About

The Student Entrepreneur Health Tech Small Grants Programme is a prize fund for students at University of Liverpool to develop their own health tech project with real-world applicability. The funding will allow students to generate impact through innovation and commercialisation, to engage with industry, and to access further training and support from the HealthTech Design Studio (HTDS) team.

HTDS has a remit to reduce health inequalities in the Liverpool City Region and therefore all applications must include a statement on how their project will address this remit.

Projects will be expected to complete within a relatively short time frame (up to 2 months) and all funds MUST BE USED BY 28th FEBRUARY 2027. Project plans should demonstrate how developments can be taken forwards to create real-world impact, which could include engaging with industry, obtaining translational funding, or benefitting society.

Please note: For projects arising from a master's or PhD research programme, any intellectual property associated with the project will be subject to the University of Liverpool Intellectual Property Policy and regulations. Applicants should discuss any potential IP considerations with their supervisor and, where appropriate, the University Enterprise Team.

Prizes are expected to be in the region of £500 to £5,000.

Alongside funding, successful applicants will receive 12h+ of expert training from the HTDS team to help develop their project and must commit to engaging with this training programme

Who can apply?

This scheme is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students at University of Liverpool. PhD students should seek approval from your supervisor before applying.
