About

Do you have a health technology idea that could improve health outcomes, tackle health inequalities or address real-world challenges in health and care? The CHI-Zone Innovation Sprint funding call is offering awards of up to £25,000 to help organisations accelerate promising health technology concepts into viable, testable projects.

This open call invites applications from eligible organisations across the region that are ready to take the next step in developing and validating innovative solutions.

We are looking for projects that can clearly demonstrate how funding will accelerate development and create meaningful impact for patients, communities, health services or wider population health outcomes.

Elgibility

The call is intended for small, innovation‑driven organisations – not large corporates and not individuals, including:

  • SMEs

  • CICs

  • Micro‑businesses

  • Start‑ups

  • Charitable trusts focused on health, wellbeing, or community innovation

  • Non‑profit organisations working in digital health or health equity

  • Social enterprises beyond CIC status (e.g., companies limited by guarantee)

  • University spin‑outs where the team is small and the project is early‑stage

  • Community health organisations developing grassroots or place‑based health technology solutions

Timeline

  • Application deadline - 5pm, October 23

  • Pitch week - w/c November 16

  • Final decisions - by November 27

  • Project delivery deadline - All awarded funds must be spend by March 31, 2027

Funding Available

Awards of up to £25,000 will be offered to support:

  • Prototype development

  • User testing and validation

  • Technical feasibility work

  • Early regulatory or clinical pathway exploration

  • Partnerships with clinicians, patients, or community groups
